Himalayan
The Himalayan, or Counterpoint Longhair, are the ideal companion or pet. Striking appearance aside, they are extremely playful and loving cats with a laid back nature. The Himalayan was created in 1930 with the hope of combining the Siamese color pattern with the Persian body type. The Himalayan is a favorite among cat fanciers and pet owners alike. The Himalayan is extremely people oriented and makes a perfect lap-cat.
The name Himalayan comes from the unique color patterns of certain rabbits and goats that originated in the Himalayan Mountains. There are eleven accepted colors for Himalayans; seal point, blue point, chocolate point, lilac point, flame point, cream point, tortie point, blue cream point, chocolate tortie point, lilac cream point, and lynx point.
The Himalayan’s body structure is stocky with long hair. Daily grooming is required to keep their long flowing coats from matting. The Himalayan’s eyes should be a clear blue color. The average weight of the Himalayan ranges from 10 to 14 lbs.
