Dogue de Bordeaux
The Dogue de Bordeaux has a very deep bark. This breed will guard their property with determination and courage, but are usually not aggressive. This breed gets very attached to their owners and is very affectionate with children, but may be aggressive with unfamiliar dogs. Early socialization and obedience will help control tendencies towards dominance or aggression. These dogs can even learn to get along with other animals.
This dog’s hair is fine and soft to the touch. Coat colors are limited to mahogany or golden fawn. This breed has a massive head and symmetrical wrinkles and very strong jaws.
The Dogue de Bordeaux needs only a quick brushing each week and a daily walk around the block to cover their exercise needs.
Originally bred in France for attacking bulls, bears and other dogs, today’s Dogue de Bordeaux is a docile companion.
