The breed's current name came about in the 1800's after Sir Walter Scott published Guy Mannering which featured a character, Dandie Dinmont, who was comparable to the breed.
This breed has a mix of soft and stiff hair. The coat can be seen in varying shades of pepper and mustard with a white chest. Daily brushing is needed to prevent tangles.
The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is fond of children and is a loving family pet. This breed does well many living situations including apartments.
This dog makes a great guard dog with a massive bark but is not aggressive.
Exercise is needed along with a lean diet to keep this dog healthy.
