The coat on this dog is quite unique; it is made up a layer of thick, tight curls which are water resistant. The coat is seen in black or liver.
This breed is devoted to the family but does best with older children. Socialization early in life will aid this breed in getting along with younger children and pets.
Training should begin early in life. The Curly Coated Retriever is intelligent which makes training in obedience and agility easier. The breed is a natural retriever but training, of any type, should be done with determination and tolerance.
This breed does not do will being left alone to become bored.
