Brussels Griffon Puppies
Brussels griffon puppies are confident, outgoing and smart. While generally friendly around strangers, some griffons are shy. Early socialization and obedience classes are recommended for this breed.
The Brussels griffon’s coat may be rough or smooth. The rough coats tend to be wiry and dense while the smooth coats are short, tight and glossy. Coat colors include black and tan, reddish-brown with a bit of black at the whiskers, solid black, solid red-brown and black mixed with red-brown.
Weekly brushings and combing will suffice for the Brussels griffon, and additional trimmings a few times a year will keep their coat in top shape. The Brussels griffon does not require vigorous daily exercise; these puppies are happy with an evening stroll around the block.
It’s believed the Brussels griffon originated in Brussels during the early 19th century. Most likely it was originally bred for “ratting” to help control the infestations common during the period. Today’s griffon is a result of cross breeding with other breeds such as pugs and ruby spaniels.
