The Blue Heeler has a double coat which is made up of a thick coarse undercoat and short straight outercoat. The breed comes in two colors, red and blue, that grows in as the dog ages in a speckled pattern.
This intelligent breed is extremely active and enjoys activities that include the family. The Blue Heeler is good with children and other pets but should be watched around strangers.
When around strangers this dog is reserved but will defend its territory.
The Blue Heeler is easy to train in obedience and sports.
The breed's energy makes it necessary that they be exercise daily or the breed will become destructive.
