Bernese Mountain Dog Puppies

The Bernese is an excellent watchdog in that this type of dog is wary of strangers.  With family members it is gentle and sweet and enjoys family-focused activities.  These dogs are friendly and loving to people they know and children.

The Bernese coat is long, silky, slightly wavy and soft.  Only one color combination exists: pure black, deep russet and pure white.  Russet should appear over the eyes, on the cheeks, on each side of the chest, on all four feet and under the tail.  The very tip of the tail tends to be white as is the center of the chest.
This breed needs a weekly brushing to keep their coat in good order and enjoy several long walks each day.

Originally bred from the fighting mastiff dogs used by the Romans about 2,000 years ago, Bernese Mountain Dogs were most often used for herding cattle.
