American Water Spaniel Puppies

The American Water Spaniel originated in the United States in the mid 1800's. The breed was developed to aid hunters and retrieve game on both land and water.

The breed has a curly or wavy coat and is seen in liver, brown, or dark chocolate. The coat will need to be brushed at least twice a week. The breeds coat is also oily and my have an odor.

Early socialization for this breed will reduce nervousness and snapping. Overall the American Water Spaniel is a good family companion and guard dog. This dog is devoted and does well with older children and other pets if raised around them.

The American Water Spaniel prefers to live in the country or in an area with room to exercise but can live in apartments if taken for long walks. The breed enjoys swimming.

This dog is easily train but can be stubborn and responds to positive reinforcement.
