Ethical breeders will provide some form of guarantee for both general health (an ear infection, for example) and congenital conditions (a heart murum, for example). A common health guarantee is 7 days on general health and one year of age on congenital conditions. Make sure you understand the conditions of the seller’s guarantee as well as your options should there be a problem with your new puppy.
