Loving, outgoing and playful, Pugs are very responsive to their families.  This breed is are intelligent and learn quickly, helping them do very well in obedience classes.  Most Pugs are friendly and get along well with children, strangers and other animals.  Pugs are an excellent choice for city families with children. 

The Pug’s coat is fine, short, glossy, smooth and soft.  Coat colors can be silver, apricot-fawn or black with a black mask and small, velvety ears.  Large, dark eyes are prominent and Pug’s have a short, blunt, wrinkled muzzle.  Pugs have a tightly curled and twisted tail on their square, stocky body. 

Pugs need only a quick brushing weekly, though their head wrinkles should be cleaned more frequently with cotton balls and water.  A Pug is happy with a slow stroll around the block every day or so. 

Pugs originated in China as favored companions of the royalty.

It’s especially important to find your Pug puppies through a reputable breeder. 
Breed-related health concerns include: deformation of the nose and mouth, which may interfere with normal breathing, Legg-Perthes disease, patellar luxation, Demodex mange, eye and eyelid problems, bladder stones, urethral obstructions and this breed is are susceptible to heatstroke.
