Keeshond Puppies

The Keeshond originated in Holland before the French Revolution. This breed was used as a ratter, watchdog and guard dog on boats that traveled between Holland and Germany. It still makes a good watchdog, but they are not aggressive, alerting their owner of any new visitors. Once the visitors are welcomed, the Keeshond will be affectionate towards anyone new. Keeshonds that are kept in a yard without human interaction will become nuisance barkers.

Keeshonds make excellent companions and are friendly with both people and other pets. This breed typically has an independent nature and can be willful at times. The Keeshond is often used as comfort dogs and has a tendency to become clingy towards their owners. While affectionate, obedience training is often difficult due to the stubborn nature of the breed. Consistence and fairness are necessary and a structured environment is helpful.

The Keeshond double coat is harsh and thick around the neck with a plumed tail that curls over the back. The color is a mix of grey, black and cream, but never should be black or white. The face of the Keeshond has a spectacle look around the eyes towards the ears.
