Jack Russell Terrier Puppies
In 2003 the Jack Russell Terrier had its name officially changed to Parson Russell Terrier. This Terrier was bred to aid in hunting in England by Rev. John Russell who also brought the breed to the United States in the 1930's.
The small Jack Russell Terriers’ double coat comes in two ways: broken or smooth. Both are weatherproof and coarse but the smooth coat sheds more than the broken. The smooth coat is also shot and dense while the broken coat has an inclination to curl or wave and is harsh. This breed comes in hues of white, white with black, or white with tan.
Jack Russell Terriers are strong minded dogs and do not do will with people who do not understand their personality. This breed is a born hunter and will follow prey anywhere, even into burrows. This hunter instinct leads these dogs to habits of digging and to chase and kill other small animals around them.
Caution should be used when buying this breed as they do not do well as family pets. Although with proper training and socializing they can be loving members of the family. Jack Russell Terriers need frequent exercise to avoid destruction of the home.
Training of this breed is challenging as they prefer hunting to following their owner's commands.
It is important to remember Jack Russell Terriers do not do well with other dogs.
