Cocker spaniels are affectionate, loving dogs.  These dogs love children and get along well with other dogs when socialized at an early age.  Obedience training when young is highly recommended, and Cockers do well in training classes.  This breed is adaptable to city or country living.

A Cocker’s coat is silky and slightly wavy.  This breed has generous feathering on their chest, bellies and legs.  The ears tend to be pendulous and well feathered as well.  Colors may be any full color and/or multi-color (combination of two).
Cockers should be brushed at least twice a week and groomed every three months or so.  Their ears should be cleaned weekly to avoid infections and you’ll need to clean the bottoms of their ears almost daily, especially after meals.  Cocker spaniels need a couple of brisk walks every day, with lots of playtime as well.

Originally bred for flushing woodcocks, Cockers originated in 19th century England.
