Chihuahua Puppies
Chihuahuas are the smallest of all breeds, and because of their tiny size and sensitive nature, these dogs are not the best choice for households with small children. This breed does make an excellent companion for city dwellers, those living in apartments and the elderly. Chihuahuas also make excellent watchdogs.
As long as Chihuahuas are obedience trained and socialized early in life with kids, adults, other dogs and cats, this breed makes a playful and confident addition to your home.
The Chihuahua's coat may be long and soft with fringing on the ears and feathering on the tail, or it may be smooth with close-lying hair. All coat colors are seen, though the most common are red, fawn and black & tan. Their "apple" head and large ears are this breed's most recognizable features.
Chihuahuas require occasional brushings and are satisfied with short walks.
The Chihuahua may have developed in the 9th century from the Techichi, a toy breed of the Toltec Indians from Central America. Alternative theories also suggest the breed may have been brought to Central America by the Spanish or Chinese.
