The Bichon Frise makes an ideal dog for those in the city or living in apartments. Though housetraining can be difficult, these pups are playful, fun loving, gentle and sweet. The Bichon frise gets along well with other people and animals. This breed loves to please, and excel in obedience training classes.
While the outer coat it coarse and curly, the under coat is very soft and quite dense. This combination feels very soft and springs back when touched. Color is white, sometimes with subtle infusions of cream or apricot.
While the Bichon Frise only requires a leisurely stroll each day, with some light play time added in for good measure, their coat will require daily attention to remain in good condition and avoid matting. Professional grooming will be required every 2 – 3 months as well.
Originally bred to be the perfect companion dog for Mediterranean royalty, not much else is known about this breed’s history.
